i know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?

The first parades L attended this year at Fashion Paramount were Times Square and Ruth Tarvydas. The show to begin the night was Times Square, it was a full house and a packed front row. Times Square is the fashion hub of Claremont and home to some delectable boutiques, the ones showcased at the event were, ae’lkemi, Anna Thomas, Bettina Liano, Breathless, Leona Edmiston and Wayne Cooper.  The second show was established WA designer Ruth Tarvydas and her stand alone show of evening wear. Starting out in the late 60’s, Travydas designs seem to always be the favourite for southern suburb high school balls and cougar’s dressed as kittens.

As stated in the previous post, L’s camera battery lay sitting abandoned at home, however she did manage to find some photos from the official photographer for the Perth Fashion Festival Stefan Gosatti. Browsing through the photos nothing really stood out and wowed me, however I liked the consistency in the theme and a pallet of mostly muted colours.

Times Square began with ae’lkemi. Lots of tailored pieces and sweet-heart bustier’s, feathers, draping and beading, prints and rich, royal, bejeweled coulours. By far both L and my favourites of the night.

Next up was Anna Thomas with sweet girly looks, there were mountains of florals and feminine prints, soft colours and hemlines. And light, airy fabrics giving the models a whimsical, feminine, innocent feel.

Bettina Liano, best know in Australia for her denim wear and jeans. Presented the crowd with a wonderful double denim ensemble, which L loved. Little summer dresses floated down the catwalk in pastels, Peachy dressed flounced and almost reminded me of sleepwear. (however the only photos L saved on her comp do not depict what was just typed)

Breathless sent lots and lots of tartan and plaid out in beautiful gold and black designs reminiscent of Vivien Westwood. Loving the pin-tuck/pick-up's on the skirts though.

Leona Edmison sent out gorgeous maxi dresses in jersey (unfortunately one model suffered a wardrobe malfunction when her strap broke mid stride down the runway) most were fun and floaty almost caribbean/resort/island themed. Prints and Stripes turbans and silk were all big players.

I couldn't find any shots from Wayne Cooper, however L relayed descriptions of stunning cocktail dresses with rushed busts, bubble skirts, lots of one sleeved and one shouldered, draped dresses again in neutral colours. Beginning with whites and grays, moving down the pallet and finishing with black.

Still to come Wesley Quarter, STM Swimwear, Fifteen Minutes and UP! The Finale. Boy this little kitty is tired!
